โ ๏ธ 2026 is your first year in business โ Q1 is due April 15, 2026! Texas has no state income tax, so you only owe the federal government. But as a self-employed LLC owner, the IRS expects payments 4 times a year โ not just at tax time in April. Mom is going to walk you through your very first payment together. ๐

5
Save your confirmation number
Screenshot it or write it down. This is your proof of payment. Keep it with your business records.
๐ค Texas Advantage: Texas has no state income tax โ meaning you only owe federal taxes. You do not need to file or pay quarterly taxes to the state of Texas. This saves you thousands compared to business owners in most other states.
The Golden Rules
Set aside 25โ30% of every payment you receive โ before you spend it on anything else. The Evermore app already tracks your tax reserve automatically.
Pay by the due date even if you're not sure of the exact amount. A close estimate is better than nothing. You can true up at tax time.
Track every mile you drive for work. At $0.67/mile, this adds up fast and directly reduces your taxable income. Use the Evermore app!
Keep receipts for all supplies and business expenses. Cleaning products, equipment, uniforms โ all deductible. Track them in the Evermore app.
Pay from your business bank account so there's a clean paper trail. Never mix personal and business money.
File your annual return by April 15 even if you've paid quarterly. Use Schedule C (Profit or Loss from Business) attached to your personal Form 1040.
What Happens If I Don't Pay?
โ ๏ธ Late payment penalties are real. The IRS charges interest (currently around 8% per year) plus a 0.5% penalty per month on unpaid amounts. If you underpay by more than $1,000, you'll also get hit with an underpayment penalty at tax time โ even if you pay everything in April. It's not huge, but it adds up and is 100% avoidable.

What Is Self-Employment Tax?
The 15.3% Explained
This confuses a lot of new business owners โ here's what it actually is.
When you work a regular job, your employer pays half of your Social Security and Medicare taxes. As a business owner, you pay both halves โ that's the 15.3%.
It breaks down like this:
โข 12.4% โ Social Security
โข 2.9% โ Medicare
The good news: you get to deduct half of your SE tax from your taxable income. The Evermore app's tax estimator accounts for this automatically.
